I always have mixed feelings about Summer ending as it means the flowers in my garden are starting to fade - yet I am looking forward to the beauty of Fall. Let's join my helpful Studio Assistant, in the garden to look for inspiration to paint.
The Zinnias are on their last bloom. This year I planted a seed packet of Heirloom Zinnias -
they were supposed to be extra large blooms in mixed colors, however; almost all of them came up in various shades of pink. The little orange ones were very hearty and are still blooming.
Finding inspiration . . . . . .
I love picking the Zinnias and arranging them in various containers. Did you know that in the Victorian times flowers were associated with symbolism? Zinnias were associated with thoughts of absent friends, lasting affection, goodness and remembrance.

Needless to say . . . . I decided to paint a small painting of Zinnias to put in the garden.
